Big Brother fans already have strong opinions about season 24. These are the best Twitter reactions to the live 24 premiere episode.

A new season of Big Brother is underway as the show's 24th season kicked off with a live move-in premiere episode. With 16 houseguests introduced and the first HOH crowned, fans have already taken to Twitter to share their opinions and reactions.

After 23 seasons of watching the reality series, fans understandably have many strong opinions and preferences about how they would like to see the game played. While some are happy about the beginning of this season, others are already displeased with how it's beginning to unfold. The other thing about Big Brother fans is that many of them have an excellent sense of humor, which is evident in many of their best tweets reacting to the premiere.

Without context, these pictures seem bizarre and random, but they make perfect sense to anyone watched the Big Brother 24 premiere. It is a hilarious way of capturing Joe "Pooch" Pucciarelli's feet dangling while sitting in an oversized chair, blue goo being dropped on the houseguests, houseguests having to put on fake piercings, and houseguests hanging from T-shirts.

Someone could look at these pictures and have no idea what happened in the premiere, but those who watched get it. It also speaks to the somewhat absurd nature of Big Brother's competitions and twists.

Many fans find it amusing that houseguest Joe Pucciarelli introduced himself with his nickname "Pooch." Big Brother host Julie Chen Moonves is known for her professional, direct, and formal delivery and demeanor. This makes it all the more amusing and strange to hear her calling this houseguest "Pooch" as professionally and formally as she'd refer to any other houseguest.

The best part of fans reacting to this on Twitter is that Julie joined the conversation, replying with a GIF saying "It's my job!" Julie may feel ridiculous referring to an adult man as Pooch, but she is also a professional and does not hesitate to do her job and to do it well.

Michael said I don’t care if I’m in the second move in group, I’m not walking in first and you know why. #bb24

In 23 seasons of Big Brother, the first houseguest to enter the house has never gone on to win the game. This is known as the "First to Enter Curse." Michael Bruner proved that he is a true superfan of the show as even though he was not part of the first move-in group, he made sure not to enter first, even holding the door open so the other houseguests in his move-in group would enter first.

He looked directly at the camera as he did this, making it clear that he is aware of the "First to Enter Curse" and would not be taking any chances. This is one of many factors that has already made Michael a fan favorite.

I love you too Michael 😘❤️ I know you’re going to do so well bean! #bb24 @michaelbruner01 https://t.co/SoQLcA8rB2

Not only did Michael make sure that he wasn't the first to enter the house in his move-in group, but he also kissed his ring while looking at the camera and holding the door open. This shows that Michael is not only a true superfan, but also that he is thinking of his fiancé Hayden as he enters the house and begins the game.

In a sweet reaction to this, Hayden tweeted about how he loves Michael and knows he is going to do well. It is heartwarming to see this kind of love between a houseguest and their partner watching the show, and to see their supportive relationship. This is yet another way that Michael has already become beloved.

nah ameerah got me hook line and sinker girl said she gone lie cheat and even do a showmance??? She’s not playing, I’ll be right behind her all season #BB24 pic.twitter.com/TlMgzGp3wf

In general, fans enjoy houseguests who play the game ruthlessly and who are willing to do whatever it takes to win. Some fans also enjoy showmances. When Ameerah Jones said in her intro package that she wants to do all of this, it definitely got the audience's attention.

Pulling all of this off is an ambitious plan, but that ambition is already making her stand out. This is an impressive feat as it is often difficult to stand out when 16 houseguests are introduced at once in a premiere episode. It will be interesting to see if she can play ruthlessly and be in a showmance.

Friend: "So what is Big Brother like?" #BB24 Me: pic.twitter.com/uXWPKR0YRT

Big Brother is the kind of show that is difficult to describe to someone who has not watched it. It's a reality show that's both a social experiment and a strategic competition, a show with high stakes that still manages to be absurd. This tweet captures that well as houseguests competed to advance in the vital first HOH competition by sitting on fake porta-potties, listening to dialogue where people talk about going to the bathroom, and being slimed with blue goo if they answer incorrectly or don't answer fast enough.

Winning this competition and becoming one of the three finalists with a chance to win the first HOH could be one of the best strategic moves to winning $750,000, and yet this part of the competition couldn't be more ridiculous.

I would be livid if I was getting blasted with blue goo while these other people just have to put jewelry on #bb24

Big Brother fans often comment on how the competitions are not created equally for all houseguests. This is already the case in Big Brother 24 as the first HOH competition split the houseguests into three different groups. Those who didn't get the answers correct or who didn't answer quickly enough in the first competition were blasted with blue goo, certainly a rough way to immediately begin the season.

Meanwhile, the second group just had to clip fake piercings on their face. Those who didn't complete the challenge fast enough were not given any direct consequences other than being unable to advance in the HOH competition, let alone being drenched in blue goo. The first group definitely had it more difficult than the second group.

If you thought scanning tickets was edge-of-your-seat TV, wait till you see people putting on jewelry! #BB24

Many fans were not riveted by the first HOH competition. The first part involved each houseguest scanning a ticket to see where they would be grouped for the competition, which became pretty monotonous after seeing this happen 16 times.

The anticipation didn't exactly pay off for the second group as their challenge was to put fake piercings on their face to match a picture they were given. Watching 16 people scan tickets and watching 5 individuals see who can put fake piercings on their face the fastest wasn't exactly edge-of-your-seat TV.

If I get backstage tickets I should be rubbing shoulders and sippin champagne with my fav. Not be at risk for being thrown out of the concert 😣 #BB24

When Pooch scanned his ticket and was awarded with the Backstage Boss twist, it seemed like he would get a unique advantage. While it was revealed that being Backstage Boss will keep him safe from being nominated or being evicted during week 1, it also means that he cannot vote during the first eviction and cannot compete in any challenges during the first week.

The twist also required him to choose three houseguests for Backstage Passes, with these houseguests being unable to compete in competitions, vote, or be nominated during week 1, although they could still end up going home at the end of the week. A backstage pass is usually a fun and exclusive experience and not a negative risk, making the name and whole concept of the twist a bit confounding, and a twist that fans already hate.

nearly half the women losing their right to vote on #BB24 in the first episode gonna be a long summer

When the Backstage Boss twist forced Pooch to give Backstage Passes to three other houseguests, he was placed in a difficult situation. He tried to be fair and choose the houseguests who came in last place during the Porta Potties and Merch Stand competitions, and picked one of the four losers from the Piercing Tent competition.

Since the three houseguests chosen were women, this means that three of the eight women in the house lost their right to vote during the first week. While this surely wasn't the intent of the twist, it is incredibly disappointing as it has immediately put the women in the house at a major disadvantage. Hopefully this is not indicative of how the rest of the season will unfold.
